World Day of Prayer

March 11, 2015

MCWA INVITES YOU TO PARTICIPATE IN OUR WORLD DAY OF PRAYER, SUNDAY, MARCH 22 as people gather in various places around Baton Rouge and the world to pray for our work in Cameroon.

MCWA’s first World Day of Prayer took place in 1997 when Dr. John Baigent from the UK was serving at our hospital in Cameroon, with his wife and daughter. He suggested that our team fast and pray for a day for our ministry, but not alone. He wanted to invite the “Bintus”, people from around the world who had “been to” Meskine as short-termers, to join us in prayer from wherever they were. Since people from across the globe joined us on that day, Dr. Baigent gave it the name we still call it today. He calls prayer “the Powerhouse for God’s work”, and for many years we have seen our Lord answer and guide in remarkable ways.

Why should I participate in MCWA’s World Day of Prayer?

God has a purpose that is unchangeable (see Hebrews 6:17) He made a promise to Abraham, and He is faithfully fulfilling it. The amazing thing is that He invites us to join Him by praying in accordance with His purpose. We are seeing proof of the advance of His Kingdom in the men and women of our people group who call Him Lord and are looking to Him to meet their needs. Others desire to trust Christ but live in fear. Please join with us on March 22 for a day that we set aside each year to pray and ask God to do significant work in the lives of the unreached in Cameroon.

Number 23:19 "God is not a man, that He should lie, nor a son of man that He should repent; Has He said, and will He not do it? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?"

  • Participate in one of the Prayer Gatherings. You’ll find locations on our Facebook page.
  • Host a prayer gathering with friends, church, family or community group wherever you choose on the 22nd. Request our helpful packet of information and prayer list. Let us know when and where you are meeting, and if we can make it public so others in your area may join you.
  • Pray alone. Request a list of prayer requests.
  • Invite others to join you to pray at your gathering or at the one you attend.
  • Do without food for the day to focus your heart on His.
