Perspectives Biblical Truth

January 5, 2016

I don’t pray, think, worship, or read the Bible the same after taking the Perspectives Class. Before taking Perspectives, I was consumed by my own needs and wants. My daily subconscious goal was getting God to satisfy them. Of course, I still struggle with putting myself first, but Perspectives shined a spotlight on my me-centered worldview in a way that changed my life forever.

It’s not Perspectives that’s life-changing. It’s the Biblical truth in the course. I have never seen any pastor or teacher walk me through the whole Bible, from Genesis to Revelation, showing the bigger picture the way that Perspectives does. There is a central theme in scripture. There are individual books, stories, principles, and statutes, but they all point to an overarching theme – God’s glory on every inch of his creation. This global vision is what drives my decisions, my convictions, and the way I spent my time, energy, and money. Because I now see that this life is temporary and that one day we will worship Jesus forever next to every tribe, people, and nation that he created, why would I spend my life pursuing anything else than that eternal picture?

Lastly, I used to think that there were only 2 ways to reach the world: be a missionary or give money to missionaries. Perspectives showed me that this is so incredibly false. There are endless ways to reach the world. The main categories Perspectives defines are: going, praying, giving, welcoming internationals, and mobilizing (teaching others about God’s heart for his glory in all the world). I try to pursue opportunities in each of these categories. God gives gifts, talents, and passions so thatwe can individually and creatively play a part. I LOVE watching people take this class and come to the same realization that they too can be used by God in big ways to make Jesus famous among the nations.

I truly cannot speak more highly of this course and how Jesus can use it to reveal his plan and how you can be apart of it. There is nothing more thrilling than seeing how big God is, how global his plan is, and seeing that YOU can be used by him to make that plan happen. It’s a humbling mystery that he allows us, inadequate sinners, to co-labor with him. Consider taking Perspectives so that you can learn more about your individual part in the story.
